Because March is National Craft Month, I thought it was the perfect time to explore a new creative pursuit.  Diamond painting is something I've wanted to try for a while because the faceted "diamond" stones will fit beautifully within most of our glass paperweight styles.

I purchased a diamond painting kit that includes a stack of round mandala patterns with 21 different rhinestone colors.  The set also includes a little pen designed grab and place each faceted stone in place, as well as a small tray to hold the stones.  Each self-adhesive pattern includes numbers that correspond to a stone color.  (It's like painting by numbers meets bedazzling.)  It's oddly satisfying to fill in the design, kind of like popping bubble wrap with a gorgeous payoff.

This craft is completely beginner-friendly.  You can go with a simple pattern like the one I chose, or something much more intricate.  I "painted" four patterns in one evening and really enjoyed it.  It was a great way to unwind after a long day.

If you're seeking a fun and somewhat calming hobby, this might be your next endeavor.
