In this example, we'll show you how to personalize the Large Rectangle paperweight kit with a vintage postcard. These instructions may also be used for a photo.
Remove the protective film (white paper liner) to expose the adhesive on the mounting board.
| Place the adhesive-side of the board onto the back of the item you wish to display in your paperweight. As shown above, the mounting board was adhered to the back of the postcard
Using a pair of scissors, trim any material that extends beyond the edge of the mounting board. Because the mounting board is made of rigid board, it acts as an excellent cutting guide for a smooth edge.
| The finished mounting board (above) is ready to display in the paperweight.
Clean the entire paperweight with streak-free glass cleaner and ensure the bottom is free of dust. Place the mounting board image-side down into the recessed area on the bottom of the paperweight. The postcard will be visible through the top glass.
Remove the protective film (white paper liner) to expose the adhesive on the bottom pad. The bottom pad covers the base of the paperweight, keeping the mounting board in place.
Carefully center the bottom pad to the bottom of the paperweight and apply, pressing down along the edges to secure.
| You're finished! To care for your paperweight, wipe the upper glass with a dry cloth. To prevent fading and condensation, keep in a controlled environment out of direct sunlight.
