Using PhotoWeights

PhotoWeights makes it easy to create personalized paperweights with photographs and other printed images.  With our pre-cut, self-adhesive finishing kit, no tracing or gluing is necessary.  All you'll need is an image of your choice and a pair of scissors.  It's that simple!

The following instructions will guide you through the steps of creating a photo paperweight.  If you will be using your paperweight to display dimensional items such as shells, costume jewelry, or scrapbooking embellishments, you'll need to select a paperweight style with a recess that's as deep as the item you wish to display.  (The recess is the interior ceiling height of the paperweight.)  This measurement may be found on the product pages throughout our website.

What you'll need

Each PhotoWeights kit includes a glass or crystal paperweight and a finishing kit.  The finishing kit consists of a mounting board and a velour bottom pad.  Both pieces are pre-cut and self-adhesive for fast, hassle-free results.   You will also need an image of your choice and a pair of scissors.

Step One

Adhere the self-adhesive mounting board to the reverse side of the item you wish to display in your paperweight.  In our example, we are using an antique postcard.  In order to center the mounting board over the correct part of an image, we recommend performing this step while the image is placed against a brightly lit window.

Step Two

Using the edge of the mounting board as a guide, cut away any excess material with a pair of scissors.  The mounting board makes this step easy, ensuring an nice, accurate cut each time.

Steps Three and Four

Place the mounting board image-side down into the recessed, bottom area of the paperweight.  With the mounting board in position, cover the bottom of the paperweight with the self-adhesive bottom pad.

If you are working with a paperweight that has a deep recess, it may be necessary to place the mounting board directly onto the center of the adhesive side of the bottom pad before the pad is adhered to the paperweight.

Your paperweight is finished!
