Golden Leaf Paperweight

This design involves the use of a rub-on transfer applied to decorative, cover stock paper.  Check your local craft store for hundreds of rub-on transfer designs you can use with this technique.

Supplies

Rub-on Transfers - Royal & Langnickel Brush Co., Leaf Accents 2 in Gold

Decorative Paper - The Paper Company, Uptown Gold

Step One

Apply the decorative paper to your paperweight kit's mounting board and trim any overlapping material.

For this project you'll want to use a smooth paper that doesn't have an impressed design or other texture.  This will ensure proper adhesion of the transfer.

Step Two

Select a rub-on transfer that's the right size to place on the mounting board.  Cut the transfer from the main sheet, keeping the protective paper in place.

Step Three

Discard the rub-on transfer's protective paper and position the transfer in the exact area you'd like to place it.

Step Four

Using the popsicle stick that comes with the set of rub-on transfers, begin rubbing the edge of the design and move inward.

Step Five

Gently peel back the clear, protective sheet making sure all the areas have transferred.

Place the mounting board face-down onto the bottom of the paperweight.  Apply the velvet bottom pad to finish.
I love the simplicity of this paperweight.  The gold leaf looks really rich against warm, semi-metallic background.
