Creating Personalized Paperweights Featuring Names and Monograms
Paperweights featuring names and monograms are easy to create and make thoughtful gifts and favors. They're especially popular for weddings because they're a beautiful alternative to place cards that will provide your guests with a lasting remembrance of your special day.
These steps may also be followed to create photo paperweights. Just insert your image into your desktop publishing program.

Step One
We used Microsoft Publisher to create our artwork. If you don't have Publisher, you can use other software that will allow you to draw a solid box and add text.
To create your artwork, draw a square or rectangular box that is slightly larger than the mounting board that comes with each paperweight kit. Fill the box with the color of your choice. (If you prefer, you can use a photograph or texture in place of a solid box.) Next, add text to the box in your preferred font style and color. (Our sample features the Edwardian Script ITC font.) Center your text vertically and horizontally within the box. |

Step Two
We recommend printing your artwork on an ink jet printer set to the best print quality setting. For optimum results, use premium, ink jet paper. (A color laser printer may also be used.)
Once your artwork is printed, adhere the adhesive side of the mounting board (included with each PhotoWeights kit) to the reverse-side of the artwork. If you centered your artwork vertically and horizontally in the colored box, use the outside border of the box as a guide to ensure the text is centered. If you can't see the outside border from the reverse-side of the paper, placing the paper against a window should help.
After the artwork is affixed to the mounting board, trim any excess paper with scissors. |

Step Three
Place the mounting board face-down onto the bottom of the paperweight. Apply the velvet bottom pad to finish. |

The result is a truly personalized paperweight that's destined to become a treasured desk accessory. |
